That people won't change unless a severe health challenge threatens their way of life is . . .

. . . true. Of me.

I consider my children's asthma to be one of the greatest blessings of my life. Strange statement?

It forced me to change. Otherwise I might still be hurtling down the track towards disaster, oblivious. Like most Americans. (And Canadians. And Europeans. And Aussies.)

Although an "asthma cure" was the original goal, the gains for my family long ago transcended asthma. The gains are so massive I can hardly quantify them all.

I am so thankful.

Do you know what I see as the biggest problem with people changing their diet/lifestyle? Until their health goes to pot or something drastic happens they don't want to change.

Why? Because they are lazy. I liked what the lady who had cancer said. Basically she said how do you expect a different result when you keep doing the same old thing. Our society is lazy they just want to take a pill and have everything get better. "Just ask for the purple pill" remember that commercial? I think it was for prilosec, what I do remember is that people were going to the doctor and asking for the purple pill even though they didn't know what it did. Haha people are sheep.

People also think that modern medicine has all the answers. The reason for this is people don't know their history. They don't know how and where modern medicine gained the knowledge that it has. Well guess what? The knowledge came from nature. Where did antibiotics, painkillers, and the ideas for every drug on the market comd from, nature. And why really would that be a surprise? We live in a world created by nature. Modern medicine has just figured out how to manipulate nature to an extent.

The real goal is to have your body in top condition so you don't need any help for the doctor. But that takes work, the gym and the kitchen and the garden. But people are to "busy" these days. Today we have computers, dishwashers, clotheswashers, microwaves, central air, gas furnaces, every convenience imaginable but nobody has any time. Whatever, we are each in control of our own destiny. We need to stop making excuses and also our society needs to quite accepting others excuses. If you are fat, not "overweight or heavy" then that means you eat to much and don't excersise. Simple.

Our society is lost when it does not view gluttony with contempt.

This subject is dear to my heart since my husband is recovering from cancer. I truly feel like his getting cancer saved mine! I have done so much research and learned so much during the last year about nutrition that I realize that it is a life long endeavor. I am so glad to have others like Robyn and Shelley who are the teachers on my path to guide me.

My DH did the chemo, radiation, and surgery part and it has nearly killed him. We are in the fight of our life trying to bring him back to health. In retrospect I wish we hadn't done the chemo/rad and just did surgery to remove the largest portion of his tumor and treated with raw foods. I think he would be in much better shape. But then I wonder if I would be as serious about our lifestyle change as I am now.

This lifestyle change we have made has been a lifesaver for me. I had high blood pressure, heart palpitations, obesity, arthritic joints, and was looking at the possibility of diabetes in the near future. We have been on alkaline water and a plant based diet since January 08 and serious with it since June. So much has changed in a relatively short time. I just finished a juice fast of 3 weeks and now my blood pressure is that of a teenager 122/65 (the untreated high was 189/105)! I am still overweight but I know that what took a lifetime to put on will take a while to get off and I am OK with that. My supervisor recently asked me to tell him about my diet - so I know people are watching. Usually because I bring that wierd drink in for breakfast!

I am trained in radiology also and see people all the time in the hospital who would benefit from this program. I know it will save my life and it could save theirs also. It is hard to not shout it from the rooftop!

Leslee, I have watched your knowledge grow and observed your progress with so much enthusiasm. I know you are making a difference for others you teach as well! I'm glad my friends Tera and Shelley have inspired you--two great ladies.

Sometimes spending a chunk of change on something is just the motivation we actually need to DO it, make the positive change!

This is one of the reasons i started to eat raw. I have friends who had a daughter with cancer and they all went on a raw food diet together. At the time, I thought they were all nuts. They even talked with David Wolfe for help. They put there daughter into remission and she looked amazing! So healthy and glowing. They gave her 3 extra great years to her life. Then she caught the flu and her body just couldn't deal with it well and the cancer came back with a vengeance and she died 2wks before her 18th birthday. It was very sad! But when I went to visit her parents I was noticing all their raw cookbooks and kitchen equipment for cooking raw and I started asking them questions about being raw. It made perfect sense to me. i went home thinking that if I ever wanted to get rid of my diabetes and get rid of all my other health issues and not get cancer since that too is in my family I had to do something very drastic. So, I choose to go down the raw food road. I watched my dad die of cancer and go thru chemo. I promised myself that that was never going to happen to me. It was truly awful watching him die one day at a time. Shelley has helped me on my way to being raw and she is a great inspiration to me too! I also took the plunge and signed up for the BES program and I'm very excited about it! Of course, Robyn, you have been the greatest influence on me. I hope that by me doing the BES program and people seeing how much i'm changing that I will be able to help other people get good health too.

I can't wait to read more! My educational background is radiation therapy. I treated hundreds of patients with cancer. I love your link to the colonoscopy video. I don't think most people appreciate how significant the changes in the colon demonstrated in the video are.

To get that kind of health in 3 months is miraculous. Some people after chemo are never the same. When their hair grows back alot of the time it is white. I am sure it is from the destruction of the melanocyte in their follicles from the chemotherapy. Chemotherapy is poison, thats why it kills cancer cells and also any cell in the process of division at the time.

The strategy with cancer treatment is you are supposed to be stronger than the poisons they use on the cancer. Well the poisons keep wearing down the patients until they don't care if the die anymore.

Radiation oncology is the most profitable department at the hospital. I know alot of people who don't want a simple cure to cancer.

I can't wait to read more. :)

Hi Robyn,

Powerful, inspiring post. I was very intrigued by your comment that "Vegetables and fruits, nuts and seeds, grains and legumes, especially in their raw (and sprouted) state are MEDICINE". You put medicine in CAPS so I know you mean it very literally. I'd like to hear you expand on that... maybe you have in other posts or articles. I am also not up to speed on the virtues of nuts, seeds, and legumes. I've recently started taking bags of Planters Planters Trail Mix to work; the one with sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, nuts, raisins, and probably some other stuff I can't remember. It is not sweetened. I like the taste and feel good about it but there might be better options.
