Comments on: easy kale or collard “chips” you can make in your dehydrator

I am making these in my dehydrator as we speak, but I have the same question as Charlotte, being I am “test-driving” these in hopes of making some and taking them on a road trip in a month. BTW, any other suggestions for good grab and eat snacks/foods for a hotel visit with 4-5 days full of dancing events, please suggest away! I am hoping to get a refrigerator in our room and bring my blend-tec, but I certainly could use any help you can provide!

How does one store kale chips (on the rare occasion that they don’t eat them all right away)? Last time we put them in a tupperware container, but that made them go soft. We can’t keep them out either, because the cats like them too!

Is there anything that could be used in place of the brewers yeast? All yeasts seem to make me very sick for some reason. This sounds really good though!

I use a cup of water instead of the small amount of water in the recipe. That makes the coating easy to coat and the taste just right.

THESE ARE SOO GOOD! I think this is my preferred way to eat greens from now on. I’m gonna make lots more until I eventually get sick of them. Then I’ll wait a month and start over! Heh heh.

I couldn’t get this to blend well in my Blendtec. I had to add 2 more ounces of water.

I decreased the salt and made some other changes in the text above. I think the recipe is fantastic now. I dipped thinly sliced zucchini in it and dehydrated them until crisp–YUMMY.

My ignorance is showing. Where is the kale/collards? Anything special that we should do with them. Coat them with the mixture listed? Sorry, have never made or had these. Don’t understand.
