Just a quick point, composted animal manure (primarily herbivore, but also chicken) is allowed in organic agriculture and is a natural input to increase the health of the soil. I'd certainly rather see them use composted manure on the white house grounds than synthetic fertilizer.

I agree with your opinion on the president's helathcare reform plan & I too, would like to see more incentives for preventive living!! Those of us who are NOT hypochondriacs deserve some reward in the way of a reimbursement of some kind on our healthcare plans when we DON'T habitually run to the doctor every time we feel less than spunky! Furthermore, I would like to see Big Government butting OUT of ALL PARTS of our private lives! THEY DON'T BELONG THERE IN THE FIRST FRICKING PLACE!! Career politicians were NEVER part of the plan when our forefathers sacrificed to make this country what it USED to be! Everyone needs to inform themselves better & they could start right here, as I plan to do, learning more about organic eating, then progress to learning more about how to have better control again over the rest of our personal decisions.

Michelle Obama's organic garden is not organic since it was planted where another President term allowed gardeners to dump animal waste to fertilize the grounds in the past and a whole bunch of sludge came up in the middle of that so called organic garden. Good try though! They didn't know at the time of planting.

Robyn,

We just returned from Italy and were given an original family recipe for Moussaka that is really great! If you would like it I have permission to share so I can post it if anyone is interested. FYI - I just leave the meat out of 1/2 of it since I am vegan.

Baba ganoush is a great way to use eggplant too!!!!! Also, the July 2007 issue of Bon Appetit magazine also has a recipe for Eggplant Caprese With Grilled Tomato And Basil Vinaigrette but I just found it last week and have not tried it yet. You can find the recipe at epicurious.com website.

I had a bit of the same problem with my garden this year... I planted collards and let me tell you..... we have supplied half the neighbors... filled the freezer and eaten what we could and they still keep coming!!! LOL!!
