Hi Robyn!

First of all, thank you sharing your knowledge of healthy eating/living with the world.

I have long used coconut oil for cooking and have tried it as a skin moisturizer, but just can't get over the lingering coconut smell. I buy a cold pressed organic oil (http://tropicaltraditions.com) that retains a lot of the coconut odor and has been great for cooking/smoothies.

I've thought about buying the more processed oil for the skin to help eliminate the odor, but am concerned about any negative health benefits the more processed oil my have.

Do you have any recommendations for getting over the coconut smell or what are your thoughts on using the more processed coconut oil just for the skin?

Thanks for any suggestions!

Well, we don't have the group buy going on anymore, but this is the link to my report on coconut oil and at the bottom is a banner ad for a great company with a great price on organic, cold-pressed coconut oil:

Then there are folks like me who inherited premature grey! ugh! I have to use permanent color to cover the resistant greys!! Because I need it to cover the grey, the roots are what need it the most often....Aaack! My face is too young-looking to leave it completely grey, which it would be IF I didn't color it.

Any suggestions??? Safer products, BUT do the job?? Some products simply do not cover the grey...

Sorry, I am sooo vain LOL Seriously, I've contemplated just letting it be grey, but my kids and husband yell," NO WAY!!!! "

Thanks for any suggestions.

I regularly get a weave. It "thickens" your hair by damaging it. I have very thin hair and it is the only way I can give it body (actually a permanent wave will do the same thing). It doesn't actually touch your scalp, but you do breathe the fumes. That is the downside. I like the blonde too, I think it "freshens" my look.

Thanks for responding, Robin. I was wondering if maybe you had it to thicken your hair. A friend of mine had one years back because her hair was thin and fine.. I have heard that about permanent dyes as well.

Tammy, a weave is color. I don't "need" it and don't have grey hair. I just like more BLONDE and I'm not above doing it, though permanent dyes cause cancer. Weaves you can keep away from your scalp more.

I wanted to comment about my use of the coconut oil. I have been using it regularly as a moisturizer and using it in my cooking as well and I've loved it. I keep a gallon in the kitchen and one in my bathroom. I've also enjoyed adding a heaping tablespoon to my bath for an all over body moisturizer, it feels and smells amazing! My husband also started using it as an aftershave and he now says he'll never use anything else. It is very soothing... Well, my 3 year old daughter had a rash all over her body yesterday - pretty much head to toe and it looked bad, big welt looking rash - and so I gave her a bath and added the coconut oil so it would cover all of her skin. The rash was nearly gone by the end of the day and I hadn't done anything else - nothing else topical or other medicines. I was sure that the anti-bacterial anti-fungal properties helped the rash naturally. I'm so glad I've found this site to learn about the use and benefits of coconut oil. I'd never heard of using it before.

Hey Time,

I know lots of people have had excellent results w/ 1 Tbsp of chia. Since it turns into gel, if you just eat the seeds, they'll absorb the acid.
